Vicari Honored With The President's Award By Grand Rapids Bar Association

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 6, 2010 — The Grand Rapids Bar Association (GRBA) honored Matthew L. Vicari with the prestigious President’s Award at its Law Day 2010: Law in the 21st Century event last week.

The award is presented to Mr. Vicari in recognition of his exemplary contributions to the law, the legal profession, and the cause of justice, as well as his special contributions in service and/or support to the GRBA Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and Executive Director. Mr. Vicari is the second Miller Johnson attorney to receive this award, following Jon R. Muth in 2003.

Mr. Vicari has been practicing law since 1990 and earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Detroit School of Law. He is the chair of Miller Johnson’s Fraud and Embezzlement Recovery Practice Group and a former chair of the firm’s Litigation Section. He is a trial lawyer with a practice focused on representing corporations, executives, medical and other professionals, and other individuals in commercial disputes, as well as criminal matters involving a wide range of corporate, government and individual crimes.

Mr. Vicari was President of the Grand Rapids Bar Association for the 2008-2009 term and previously served as a trustee. Besides his participation in the GRBA, he is a past president of the Gerald R. Ford Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and past President of the Catholic Lawyers Association of Western Michigan. Mr. Vicari is also a faculty member with the Hillman Advocacy Program for the U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan.
