Brower Recognized as Leader in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Miller Johnson attorney Robert D. Brower is recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as one of 30 "Leaders in the Law" for Michigan. He will be honored at an awards reception held at the Detroit Marriott on March 21, 2013.

Leaders in the Law must meet six criteria to be considered. Among these are: exemplify the noble tradition of the legal profession, inspire and lead others with their skill and character as well as being astute, wise, knowledgeable and successful. Jon Muth, a partner at Miller Johnson, has this to say about Brower: "Lawyers who practice in the probate arena do not typically receive the notoriety of those who practice in courts of general jurisdiction. But in his area of expertise, Bob has long been recognized by his peers as one of the top few lawyers in the state. He is both a wise counselor and an effective litigator."

Mr. Brower's practice is focused on representing closely held business owners and executives, their families, fiduciaries, and other individuals in matters involving business and estate planning, probate and trust administration, and contested estate matters. He earned his J.D. degree from The University of Michigan Law School in 1972.

Mr. Brower was Managing Member at Miller Johnson from 1992 through 2000. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is serving his second term on their Fiduciary Litigation Committee. He is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America®" for both tax law and trusts and estates and is honored as Best Lawyers 2013 Grand Rapids Trusts & Estates Lawyer of the Year. He is named a Michigan "Super Lawyer" for estate planning and probate and appeared on the Super Lawyer Top 100 list.

He has a long history of dedicating his time and talents to professional and community organizations. These board positions range from Meritas, an international law firm alliance, to the State Bar of Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Section to the Western Michigan Estate Planning Council. His vast community involvement has included the Grand Rapids Community Foundation Professional Advisory Committee, Albion College, Partners for a Racism-Free Community (formerly GRACE), and Hospice of Michigan Foundation.

Founded in 1959, Miller Johnson is a full-service firm providing legal counsel to businesses and individuals in areas such as business and corporate, employment and labor, litigation, employee benefits, family law, and estate planning. In November 2012, U.S. News and World Report and Best Lawyers awarded Miller Johnson with high rankings for 34 practice areas in the Grand Rapids Metro area and 11 in Kalamazoo.
